Our Puppy Willow

Heather and I bought ourselves a puppy for Christmas. She is a Lab Retreiver/German Shepard mix. We named her willow. We were thinking of names on our drive home from getting her and we passed a Willow Road or something like that and that's how she got her name. Hopefully our children's names will have been a little more thought out and meaningful. We went to Pet Smart and got the things we needed. I even got her a collar that's black with pink poka dots! The Mayo's gave us a crate to keep her in when we are gone and to use to train her. It was soo nice of them to think of us. We were sure to thank them a lot for it. It has really helped us out. We move it upstaires to our bedroom at night and bring it dowstaires in the day so she can be with everyone. Sammy loved to get in the crate with Willow and play with her. He would go around the house and look for and call her. It was really funny how he would say her name. We would try and mimic him but it was a sound only Sammy could produce. Although we don't make it a habbit to feed her table scraps, she loves scraps of pork chops. She nearly attacked me when she knew they were for her. We have taught her to sit but that was almost too much when it came to pork. We are also in the process of teaching her to lay down. she hasn't completely grasped that concept yet though, but will soon. Now she comes and sits or lays down by you and lookes at you like she expects a treat. It's like a little kid who thinks that just because they say please they get whatever they asked for. It's all still a work in progress. Willow loves to play and chew on her toys and dads socks. The only problem with chewing on grandpa's holy socks is taht his toes are still in them when she attacks. It is funny. She doesn't like getting bathed very much. Maybe she will when we can do it outside and she has a little more room than the laundrey room sink. She sure does like the drying part because we rub and scratche her all over and she just stands there content as ever.
