Christmas Day

This was our first Christmas spent alone with just our family. It was nice to be together but we also missed seeing other family too. Isaac woke up at about 8:00 and took a shower with Daddy. Then he ate toast for breakfast and then we finally opened presents. We called Grandma and Grandpa and we all got on Skype and had a little video chat so they could see Isaac open some of his presents.

Christmas 2009

He didn't really get the whole unwrapping thing. He was more interested in the paper... but he eventually learned. He got some hot wheels cars, racecar track, monster trucks, a book, clothes, and a few other things. He really loves the racecar track and his monster trucks. He playes with them nonstop and makes enging sounds as he pushes them across the floor. It is actually quite comical to watch.

We didn't have a big Christmas dinner. We just quickly made leftover soup for lunch and speggitti for dinner. Isaac really likes speggitti. He takes handfuls of noodles and shoves them in his mouth. It really is a miracle he doesn't bite his fingers because he really gets his whole fist inside his mouth.

Isaac ended up going to be really early. He was just soo worn out from the excitement of Christmas. We were sure to take a quick family Christmas picture before he went down for the night though. I hope everyone had a good Christmas, we did.

Internet

Heather's parents came back today. They'll be here for a week. Now that they are here, we have access to the internet. So, I was able to upload a ton of pictures that we had been taking the past several weeks. I will also be looking into the skype thing. Maybe we'll all be able to talk online soon. Well, it's late and I need to get to sleep so I can get up for school tomorrow. Just thought You would all like to see evidence of our recent activities.

Surprise Party and Church

December 7, 2009

We had an awesome weekend. Surprise was having a little “Surprise Party” this weekend so we went on Friday and Saturday. On Friday night there was supposed to be a tree lighting ceremony and a balloon send off. We got there before the tree was lit, but somehow we missed the whole ceremony. I guess they didn’t make a big deal out of it like we thought they would. The balloon send-off was awesome though. Well, what we say of it anyway. We watched about 15 hot air balloons fill up, which was really cool. I’d never seen that before and didn’t realize how big the balloons were. They were beautiful, although the spider-man one was a little scary looking when it was all lit up. Isaac stared at them in awe for about 45 minutes, but he was done after that so we left and went home.
Saturday was more of a carnival type event. It was cool because most things were free or really cheep. There were enough free things though that we didn’t end up spending any money, but we still had a great time! The first thing we saw when we got there was the elephants (later they had elephant and camel rides but we didn’t want to wait in line or pay for one.) We watched them walk around for a while but they had to go somewhere so we moved on. The next place we went had giant scorpions. Boy, were they gross. I held one (Brandon was too chicken!) and it took everything I had not to fling it in the air and run away. So gross.
Next we headed over to the petting zoo. The had a baby cow, a baby lama, a goose, a duck, lots of chickens, a few goats, a baby pig, and bunnies. Isaac loved the animals, especially the goats and the pig. The goats because they were just his size to give lots of hugs to: the pig because it was terrified and would run when he chased it. Isaac gave the goats lots and lots of hugs; his only problem was he liked to hug to backside, which was super gross.
We then went to watch the pig races. That was fun, but a little crazy too. I was shocked at how fast those piggies could run. They were racing for a vanilla milkshake and an oreo cookie. They must like their oreos. The let everyone bet for free on their favorite color. Isaac and Brandon won, I did not. :) There was a drawing with all the winning tickets, but we didn’t win anything.
The last thing we did while we were there was the car show. Brandon loved it. They had a beautiful first generation orange corvette. As you can imagine Brandon wanted it real bad and even (jokingly) offered out first born as a trade. Brandon made sure to vote that it was his favorite! Isaac and I played in the rocks.
Sunday was a nice laid back day. We enjoyed church, Isaac made it threw most of Sacrament meeting but had a melt down in the last ten minutes. I figure that doesn’t count though because the meeting went more than 15 minutes over. It was a great testimony meeting, but very long for a one year old. I love when we get to hear most of the meetings without having to take him out. I guess the key is to bring enough snacks to keep him occupied!

*More pictures to come when we get internet next week!

December 3, 2009
We’ve totally been slacking on this blog thing lately, but it’s hard when the computer at home doesn’t want to let us upload photos.
Mom and Dad (Powell) came to visit for Thanksgiving along with Kim and Matt. We had such a blast spending time together. I loved watching Isaac play with everyone, especially when Uncle Matt put Isaac down for bed the last night they were here. So cute! Isaac kept looking around the house to find all his friends on Monday night and was sad to find no one but Mommy and Daddy.
Isaac can now say Dada and he actually means Daddy. I guess that’s officially his first word. He never stops jammering on now, which we totally love to hear!! He will say Mama but it doesn’t always mean something so we haven’t added it to his list of words yet. We probably will in the next week or two. He’s getting to be such a big boy. I love watching him try to copy everything Mommy and Daddy do. He thinks he’s such a big boy and gets so excited when he does what we are doing!!
We decorated our Christmas tree on the Monday night after Thanksgiving. I think we’re going to have that be our new family tradition (this is the first tree we’ve had as a married couple since we’ve always gone home for Christmas.) that we’ll decorate on tree for FHE on the Monday after Thanksgiving. We’ve also started reading Isaac a Christmas bed time story every night. He loves the hard books so that he can hold them and turn the pages, but we’ve only got one of these and the library didn’t have any so we rotate. Isaac loved the lights on the tree. After we put the ornaments on the tree Isaac promptly took all the ones he could reach off again. He seemed a little upset when we didn’t put them back up so he could take them down again. Such a silly monster.

Little sister is growing like a champ. We keep wondering if she’ll be here in time for Christmas this year or if she’ll have to wait till next year. I have my next doctor’s appointment tomorrow. I’m sure they’re going to tell me that my blood pressure is getting a little high and that we’ll have to keep an eye on things. I’m just hoping that we’ll be able to keep her in my tummy until she’s full term and her lungs develop fully.
