We finished our first homework assignments tonight. An all about me poster. The kids had a great time. They even willingly cleaned the toy room so that Mommy would let them do their homework. Dont think that enthusiasm will last through high school...but we will use it while we've got it!
The kids started preschool this week. We've been talking about it for weeks and they were so excited! On Tuesday they had an open house which was basically a practice day where parents stayed with thier children. Isaac and Lydia both cried when it was time to go home. Wednesday was their first real day and they had a blast. As soon as I got there Lydia asked if she could go to school again tomorrow too! I don't think she understands that she's going to go everyday for a long while.
On the way home they both said their favorite part was getting to stay and play WITHOUT MOMMY!
On the way to school Isaac and I had this conversation:
Isaac: Mommy, I really need to go poop.
Mommy: You'll have to wait until we get to school. You can't poop outside.
Isaac: Yeah, because only chickens and dogs are allowed to poop outside. Nothing else.
Mommy: Other animals poop outside too. Only humans poop inside.
Isaac: They do? Insert open mouth
Today the kids have said a few funny things today
Isaac during the prayer: thank you for putting another baby in Mommy's tummy. (I am NOT pregnant)
Lydia: I like to eat my boogers, except the ones that taste like pee.
I will add more as I remember them.
Our awesome Isaac turned five this month. We celebrated with a family party. Isaac said he wanted chicken on a stick and long green things with pokeys at the end. After aome discussion we found this to mean he wanted drumsticks and asparagus.
All about being 5:
*loves Captain America
*loves dinosaurs
*always smiling
*very compassionate
*loves climbing and jumping off anything dangerous looking
*great hugger who hugs EVERYONE
*his birthday wish was that everyone of his friends could have a great time at his birthday
Saturday was a rough day for Isaac. He and Daddy were pkaying pine cone baseball and Isaac took one right to his open eye. We flushed it with a ton of water and hoped that would be the end of it...
Fast forward a few hours and we hear a loud bang from downstairs followed by screams. Isaac run up the stairs covered in blood from a nice 1.5inch gap in the back of his head. It looked deep so we headed to the emergency room. They gave Isaac 3 staples.
We are so glad we decided to take him in because he started complaining about how bad his eye hurt. It turned out he had a pretty deep scratch on his cornea. They gave us some antibiotics to keep it from getting infected.
We survived our first ER trip as parents. Good times.
Bruce wasn't able to make it for the family reunion but came for a visit two weeks later. We had a great time showing him and Tara around town. We even took them crabbing.
